Using AI-Powered Tools to Automate Your Content Creation Process

Using AI-Powered Tools to Automate Your Content Creation Process

Table of contents

To win in today’s market, high-quality content is key. You need a strong content strategy for developing, publishing, and maintaining your business’s content, including blog posts, social media updates, product descriptions, email newsletters, and more.

But producing all this can take a lot of time. AI content automation can help teams create more efficiently without burning out.

Now, when we think of AI content automation, we often think of tools like ChatGPT generating content. But while using AI algorithms to automatically produce text can be useful in certain situations, the content generated by AI often lacks the human touch and creativity that makes content truly engaging.

Instead, look for ways to use AI to assist you in making great content and use AI to automate the processes around content creation. This article will show you where you can add AI into your content creation processes. This type of content automation can take repetitive, time-consuming tasks off your hands, giving your marketing team more time to focus on building your business.

How can AI content automation benefit your business?

I’ve been creating online content for businesses for over 20 years, and I’ve experienced several benefits of automating parts of the content creation process with the right tools.

  • Saves time. Content creation tools can perform repetitive tasks for you, like scheduling social media posts or publishing blog articles. This allows your team to allocate their time and energy toward generating high-quality content that engages your audience.
  • Boosts output. Automation can speed up your workflow by streamlining various processes involved in content creation, such as generating topic ideas, conducting research, formatting content, and proofreading. You can produce more content within the same timeframe, reducing manual effort and eliminating time-consuming tasks.
  • Optimizes content. AI tools can analyze data, user behavior, and market trends to provide valuable insights and recommendations for optimizing your content. By leveraging this information, you can refine your content strategy, improve targeting, and tailor your messaging to resonate with your audience more effectively.
  • Aids scalability. By implementing automation tools and processes, you can easily scale up your content efforts without sacrificing quality or overwhelming your team. Automation helps streamline content production, distribution, and tracking, allowing you to expand your content strategy while maintaining consistent productivity and effectiveness.

These are just some reasons the marketing automation software industry is booming. It’s set to grow by over 19% in the next five years — a market value of $14.15 billion by 2024.

Can Google Detect AI Content Generation?

Yes, Google can detect AI-generated content — though we don’t really know how effective it is at identifying it. Google does this by using natural language processing to spot machine-generated content. So, if you publish content generated entirely by AI without edits, your web pages might not rank well in search engine results.

But wait! In February 2023, Google updated its guidelines to elaborate further, stating it doesn’t penalize AI-generated content if it’s high-quality original content targeted towards people rather than search engines.

To judge content quality, Google uses its E-E-A-T guidelines: experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness. These are things AI often can’t mimic very well without human intervention (yet). However, many AI tools can be excellent aids in the process of creating compelling content.

The takeaway? You can use AI as a part of your content creation process and still rank well on Google. Just ensure that content is quality, helpful, and aimed at people rather than at gaming the system.

Making SEO-friendly content is mostly about choosing the right key phrases and creating content that users will get value from. SEO optimization with AI makes the process simpler and quicker, so check out our post on using AI for SEO for more specific tips.

4 ways AI can automate your content strategy

While I don’t recommend using AI to generate the entirety of your content, AI tools can be transformative for your overall content strategy. AI automations can free up your content marketers from repetitive tasks, and by cutting out the grunt work, they get much more time to create!

Let’s look at some of the ways AI can be used in the content creation process.

1. Developing content briefs and content ideas

Coming up with fresh content ideas from scratch takes a lot of work. AI tools like Wordtune can help you generate new ideas for your content. You can input a topic and get a list of new ideas to expand on. It’s like having a brainstorming partner never gets writer’s block.

For example, imagine you’re struggling to come up with ideas for a blog post for your dog grooming business. In Wordtune, click New Document, then Generate with AI, type “10 dog grooming blog ideas in 2023,” and hit Enter. You’ll be given 10 potential ideas for your new blog post that can get your creative juices flowing. If nothing floats your boat, you can choose Regenerate to get more.

AI tools like BuzzSumo and Persado can also be of help. These tools analyze your audience’s preferences and needs, giving you valuable insights into what content will appeal to your audience. You can use this information to generate more effective content ideas and content briefs.

Build a quick AI brainstorming session into your content pipeline, and you’ll be able to quickly fill out your content schedule, and, therefore, your social media feed or website.

2. Performing keyword research

Keywords are your building blocks to being seen on search engines. With the right keywords in your content, your pages will appear higher in search engine rankings for important terms, helping you reach your target audience.

So, how can you find the best keywords? Enter AI-powered tools like Surfer SEO. These kinds of tools analyze large amounts of data to find the most relevant keywords and phrases. They can also track keyword performance in real time so you can adjust your campaigns to catch emerging trends.

Another AI tool, Google Keyword Planner, can identify long-tail keywords. These longer phrases help you target specific niches your competitors might have overlooked.

3. Perfecting your content

You’ve developed an idea and found your keywords. Now, it’s time to actually create.

Content generator tools can make content based on a prompt. They can write blog posts, social media updates, emails, and even scripts for audio and video content. It’s important to note, that you’ll still need some human input to make a high-quality article that ranks well on search engines. However, content generators are certainly useful tools to speed up the drafting process!

As a professional content writer, I'll often use AI tools to generate an outline for an article based on the ideas and keywords I want to target. I may use AI writing tools like Wordtune to fill out the content for each section. When writing an article like this one, I can use Wordtune to generate examples, definitions, analogies, statistical facts, and more by clicking on the Spices button. These features can help me perfect the content.

AI writing tools can also analyze your human-generated draft text and suggest improvements. Wordtune, in particular, can check for readability, tone, and style, or even offer alternative ways to get your point across.

In this way, I’ll use these tools more as a writing assistant than a machine that generates content from scratch.

4. Scheduling content to maximize engagement

Figuring out the optimal time to post content to engage your unique audience can be a headache. Content calendar templates from sites like Semrush and Hootsuite are great to help you plan your posts on a week-by-week basis. They keep you organized and consistent. But how do you know the best time to post?

AI tools like Publer and Vista Social can analyze your audience’s behavior to find out when your audience is most active on social media. Then, these tools recommend the best times to post your content when your target audience is online.  It’s like having a personal advisor telling you the best time to connect with your audience, boosting your chances of being seen.

How Wordtune can support your content production

Wordtune is an AI writing tool that can be useful in many steps of the content creation process. Like a coauthor who’s always ready to help, it can help you take your content to the next level.

Let’s look at some ways Wordtune can support your content strategy.

Crafting engaging blog posts

Wordtune helps you write engaging content that pulls in your audience. It can quickly create a structure for your blog post idea or help you build awesome long-form content.

Let’s say you’re writing a blog post about the benefits of green tea. You could start by making a content brief with AI-powered tools like Keyword Insights and SEO.ai that generate outlines based on the content that’s ranking on Google. Then, you can use Wordtune to generate the post based on your outline. All you need to do is click Generate with AI and paste your content outline into the text box.

While you edit the generated text in the Wordtune Editor, Wordtune will highlight places where you can improve your post’s grammar and readability. Plus, you can use the Spices feature to add explanations, emphasis, demonstrations, analogies, and more to take your writing to a higher level.

Social media posts

Wordtune is perfect for crafting engaging social posts. Whether you’re posting on Twitter, Instagram, or other social media platforms, Wordtune can help you create short-form content.

Let’s say you’re launching a new set of headphones on Twitter. In Wordtune, click Generate with AI, and write “make a Twitter thread announcing the following new set of headphones.” Add your product details and its key selling points to the text box and hit Enter

With this info, Wordtune will generate a catchy announcement thread for Twitter. You could do the same thing for a behind-the-scenes look, a customer testimonial post, and an Instagram post, all of which you can edit to perfection.

Write selling product descriptions

Wordtune can help your content writers create product descriptions that sell. It can do most of the legwork by taking your product details and turning them into engaging content.

Let’s say you’re selling a high-end camera. In Wordtune, click Generate with AI, and write “make a product description for the following.” Add your product’s details and its key selling points to the text box and hit Enter

Wordtune will generate a product description you can use as a basis for a description that highlights the camera’s best features.

From there, you can use Wordtune to perfect the content. For example, you can click on any section and choose Rewrite to generate some alternative phrasing. Or, select any section and choose Shorten or Expand, and Wordtune will generate more concise or more descriptive versions of the content.

Develop exciting email campaigns

55% of consumers say email marketing is their preferred digital channel for business communication. Wordtune can help your content team cut down on drafting time by taking your key points and turning them into emails your audience will want to read.

For example, imagine you’re promoting a sale via your email list. Click Generate with AI, type “write an email campaign outlining the following sale,” add your sale details into the text box, and hit Enter

If you don’t like the generated content, you can click on Rewrite to get Wordtune to create another version. Or, hit the Shorten and Expand buttons to change the length of particular sections.

Report on your content successes

Reporting successes is key to understanding how to make effective strategy changes as well as keeping up your content team’s morale. Wordtune can help you write a great report from the key points you want to deliver.

Let’s say you’ve had a great month: your content is performing well, and you’ve seen an increase in engagement and conversion. While you’re writing your report in Wordtune, you can use the Wordtune Spices feature to generate sections of your report for you.  You can click anywhere in the document and type in the text box something like “Discuss how email marketing directly increased sales by 4.5%,” and Wordtune will write this content for you. You can then edit the generated content as you see fit.

Conclusion

The onus on businesses to generate engaging and effective content has never been higher. AI-powered tools, while not a complete replacement for human creativity, can serve as a powerful assistant in the content creation process. From the generation of fresh ideas and performing keyword research to crafting content and scheduling it for maximum engagement, the transformative potential of AI is undeniable.

Key areas where AI can be utilized include idea generation, keyword research, structuring content, and scheduling posts. AI writing tools like Wordtune can be a potent ally. They can aid in crafting engaging blog posts, social media updates, product descriptions, or email campaigns, by providing different tonal options, rephrasing suggestions, and offering alternatives for a more natural language.

If your content team’s still doing all this work unassisted, it might be time to give Wordtune a try and see how it can help streamline your content creation process.
